I started out stating my goal was 7 miles. As the week went on I told myself that I would not stop until I made it around the race track which would be more than 7 miles. I felt good today and made it to my goal, however stopping to take the opportunity to kiss the bricks! After the race track I took a short break to relieve my bladder and decided I still had it in me to continue the run.
At about 10.6 I hit the "wall." When your running in support for someone else and think about all the people supporting you, but also the events of the week that show you just how precious life is and reminds you to live to the fullest, you dig way down deeper than you can ever imagine and push through. I cried when I crossed the finish line (can't wait to see that pic) for many reasons. 1. I really didn't think I could take another step and I didn't know what I was going to do, 2. Lesley has been through far worse than I could ever imagine and still continues to fight, 3. I have such an awesome support group I really can't believe how great my life is, and the list goes on forever.
I RAN 13.1 MILES TODAY... ALL OF IT!!!!!! Some run that like it's nothing. I have never ran that in my life. It was one of the most amazing feelings. The encouragement from the town of Indy was incredible. I may need a double knee replacement in the next year, but hey life is worth that!
I continue to give thanks to all of the supporters of the past week for the #PayItForward$1 and Lesley. I received a message from Lesley's sister, Cory, last night saying they were cheering me on from the cancer center last night. And also heard from Lesley today watching the Mini. I have found today that we can accomplish great things with the trust in the Lord and the support from so many great people. I am thankful for your support for Lesley, but also thankful for the lesson you have taught me. Pay It Forward is one of the greatest feelings in the world and I encourage you to do the same.
